This Laptop Bag Stops Bullets

laptop bag

The MTS Multi-Threat Shield bag looks like your average, everyday black laptop bag, yet it has a hidden superpower. It can withstand bullets.

Built into the MTS is a lightweight and discreet ballistic shield, like something out of Mission Impossible. Just flick your wrist, and the bag deploys a three-foot long blanket of protection to defeat multiple impacts from most handgun, shotgun, and pistol caliber submachine gun threats. For heavier artillery, such as high-powered rifles, a Level III insert can also be purchased.

The MTS bag not only protects against gunfire but, according to the manufacturer, Force Training Institute, it offers “protection from attacks with blunt objects and edged weapons, as well as punches and kicks.”

The bag is designed for daily use and weighs eight pounds. It has a ballistics coverage area of 639 square inches, and it is purported to be strong enough to stop a .44 Magnum traveling 1412 feet per second. A feature of the bag it an expandable utility pouch. It is used to carry equipment, such as a laptop, tablet, a handgun, or Taser.

The MTS bag is being marketed for home/family defense, law enforcement, fire/EMS workers, executive protection, workplace safety, corporate/private security, educators, hospital staff, and more.

The manufacturer “certifies that this model of ballistic armor has been tested by NIJ approved lab National Testing Systems and has been found to perform at NIJ Level IIIA performance–#NIJ 0108.01.”

The company does caution that the MTS’ material does not offer protection from rifle fire, armor piercing bullets, or “special purpose projectiles” without the aforementioned Level III insert.

This laptop bag tailor-made for the battlefield or the zombie apocalypse will set you back $899. Force Training Institute has the MTS available on its website. The company specializes in crisis management, as well as personal and organizational safety and security.
