The “Do My Thang” singer appeared on the Karamo Show in April of last year, where she revealed that she was diagnosed with lupus at the age of six. The singer discussed her battle with the autoimmune disease and how dealing with cyberbullies has affected both her physical and mental health.
Broadus sat down with People in September to provide updates about her health. She said that she had been taking 10-12 medications a day for most of her life. The entrepreneur decided to go “cold turkey” from her medications and take a holistic approach to treat her symptoms, which included “herbs, sea moss, and teas.”
Broadus said that her health has improved since she made the switch. The Choc Factory owner said she no longer felt the aches in her joints, but she still strives to change her diet and sleep habits to improve her overall health.
“If I can do a whole 360 change and get healthy all around, I think I would be so good. But I tell people all the time it’s a day-by-day process. Things are going to take time. Nothing is going to happen overnight.” She told People.
Although the disease can increase the risk of stroke, it is unknown if this incident was lupus-related.
